Mayanagari

"Mayanagari" is an open-world action game, inspired by the GTA series, uniquely set in an Indian context. At its core, the game is an intricate blend of Mumbai's urban expanse and Goa's coastal charm, crafted to create a compelling cityscape that resonates with authenticity. The game's world is enriched with detailed cultural elements, including local music, Hindi dialogues, and quests that draw from Bollywood narratives, effectively capturing the essence of Indian culture. Gameplay mechanics are diverse, offering an array of vehicles for navigation and a robust selection of weapons ranging from small and heavy firearms to melee tools like axes and pipes, allowing for varied combat experiences. Targeted primarily at the Indian young adult demographic, "Mayanagari" aims to provide an immersive cultural and gaming experience.

The Game Over the Years

This video showcases the journey of Mayanagari from its early stages in Jan 2021 to a more refined iteration in 2023. During the early stages, I was heavily involved in pre-production and then working with developers to research, design and implement core gameplay systems that set the foundation for further development and features.

Over the course of the project, my focus evolved towards enhancing and optimizing these systems, ensuring the future systems and design work always took into account the constraints laid by the groundwork. Making sure the team stayed within the limits of our technical environment while maintaining the original creative vision.
